If the pulp of the tooth is infected or irreversibly inflamed as a result of a severe decay or injury, one of the options to try and save the tooth will be Root Canal Treatment (RCT). Some symptoms are dull or throbbing pain, sensitivity to temperature, a classic tooth ache with or without swelling.
If the tooth does not undergo Root Canal Treatment, an abscess may form, subsequently, spreading to the surrounding area.
Root canal, or endodontic treatment cleans out the infected or inflamed pulp chamber and root canals, replacing it with a permanent root filling material.
